As an ALL Iowa Summer Intern, I spent this past summer working at Iowa Migrant Movement for Justice. At IMMJ, I was a member of the Afghan Legal Team and provided pro-bono immigration legal services to Afghans evacuated by the US in 2021, who were later paroled into the US under Operation Allies Welcome.
While a member of this team, I worked primarily on asylum, SIV, and re-parole cases. I also participated in a day-long re-parole clinic in Cedar Rapids with Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Dubuque.
As a student attorney at the Drake Refugee Clinic spring 2023, I represented multiple Afghan Clients in their asylum cases, including the asylum interview with USCIS. Additionally, I assisted Afghan clients in obtaining Temporary Protected Status and work authorization.
These experiences with the Drake Refugee Clinic and with IMMJ have ignited a true passion for immigration law and for serving underrepresented communities in seeking access to a better, safer life through our country’s immigration system. Because of these incredible experiences, I have decided to pursue a career in immigration law after graduating from law school.
My post-grad dream is to be accepted into the Department of Justice Attorney General’s Honors Program – and to clerk for the Office of the Chief Immigration Judge.
